RedPeak Properties was formed by Mike Zoellner and Mark Windhager. With their extensive and diverse experience in the residential industry, Mike and Mark set out to create a different kind of apartment company. Keep reading to find out more about RedPeak’s leadership.
Mike Zoellner is the President and Chief Executive Officer of RedPeak Properties. Prior to forming RedPeak, Mike was employed for 17 years at Legacy Partners Residential (formerly Lincoln Property Company) where he was responsible for apartment operations and development in Utah and Colorado, and also served as an Operating Partner in various real estate partnerships. During his tenure at Legacy Partners, he oversaw the development, construction and management of over 30 apartment projects with 7,500 units in Colorado. In 1978, Mike graduated from Creighton University, Eppley School of Business with a BSBA in Finance, and in 1981, received his Juris Doctor from Creighton’s School of Law. In addition, Mike is a licensed Colorado Real Estate Broker and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Regis Jesuit High School, Citywide Banks, Stewart Title of Colorado, Mercy Housing, Inc. and The Downtown Denver Business Improvement District (BID). Mike is also a member of the National Multi Family Housing Council and a Multi Family Housing Council member of the Urban Land Institute. Mike also serves as Chairman of the Colorado Multi Family Housing Alliance, a general purpose, better government fund that represents the interests of the Colorado Apartment Industry. A fourth generation Colorado native, Mike and his wife, Nancy, have three grown children.
MARK J. WINDHAGER
Mark Windhager is the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of RedPeak Properties. He has more than 25 years of diverse real estate management and development experience, and has been associated with the successful development, repositioning and lease-up of over 11,000 units. Prior to co-founding RedPeak Properties, Mark was Vice President and an Officer of the Rocky Mountain Region of Legacy Partners Residential, Inc. In this position, he was responsible for the successful operation of third-party fee clients as well as Legacy-owned assets in Colorado and Utah, supervising approximately 190 employees. Preceding his years with Legacy, Mark established the Nevada office of Security Capital Pacific Trust, now a publicly traded company under the name of Archstone/Smith. As Operations Manager, he handled asset management and property management in Nevada. Before his association with Archstone, he was Regional Manager and Operating Partner for Trammell Crow Residential Services in Colorado and Utah. Mark holds graduate degrees in Business Administration and Real Estate Development as well as a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University in 1986. Mark has served various director roles with the Apartment Association of Metro Denver (AAMD) since 1994 and served as AAMD President in 2006. Currently, Mark sits on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Apartment Association.
Rusty joined RedPeak in January 2010 as Corporate Controller and brings 25 years of experience in real estate finance and accounting. Prior to joining RedPeak, Rusty was CFO and Controller for MONY Realty Capital, a real estate investment subsidiary of MONY Life Insurance Company. In this position, Rusty was responsible for the accounting and financial management of more than 100 real estate properties owned by MONY. In addition, Rusty was in-charge of financial operations of several private equity real estate funds managed and co-invested by MONY. Before joining MONY, Rusty’s spent 10 years as Controller with an industrial developer/REIT in Los Angeles and seven years experience with a Los Angeles based local CPA firm specializing in real estate. Rusty is a Certified Public Accountant. Rusty and his wife, Wendy, have three children and are active in several volunteer organizations.
